The Burn

Before the first flame

Fire is not decoration.
It is a controlled force.

A RELIC artefact does not ask for excess. It asks for discipline.
Read before ignition.

Rule I — Control the Flame

Before ignition, the wooden wick is trimmed to ±5 mm.

Longer wicks create unstable fire. Unstable fire has no place here.

Rule II — The First Burn Defines the Artefact

The first burn is not optional. Wax must reach the vessel edge — fully — before extinguishing.

Translation: This establishes memory. Memory defines every burn that follows.

Rule III — Burn with Intention

A RELIC candle is not meant to burn endlessly. Optimal session: 2–4 hours.

Presence is built over time. Excess does not improve it.

Rule IV — Extinguish Cleanly

Fire is not blown out. The wick is dipped or snuffed.

Smoke is not atmosphere. Clean extinction preserves the composition.

Rule V — Respect the Interval

Wax solidifies before relighting. The wick is reset and carbon is removed.

Truth: Artefacts maintained with discipline outlast those treated casually.

This is not care. This is use.

RELIC artefacts are built to work within restraint. Used correctly, they create presence. Used casually, they become noise.
